The global portal website is sailshadeworld.com for custom made shade sails and for ready-made shade sails it is shade-sails.com.
Sail Shade World sells shade sails on a global basis with the strongest markets being in the English-speaking world although 25% of business is non-English. There are multiple SailShadeWorld TLDs, all websites are in 7 languages.
Between its founding in 2006 and 2020 SSW had a spend with Google AdWords of about $1.500.000 which produced a good revenue but on in-depth analysis it was found that the profit on the revenue was offset by the cost of advertising – no profit and no loss.
Beginning 2020 I threw myself into SEO learning all I could and experimenting with what worked and what did not. What became apparent is all my knowledge of how SE crawlers worked going back to when I first developed websites in 1993 was outdated, I certainly am not alone.
What was learnt (It would take days to share everything) was the assumption that if you have a product that people will search for that product, they don’t! The searches are much wordier and more complex, even more so now that over 35% of all searches are by voice. The methodology employed for SSW was to make the content of the sites such that many variations of search questions would allow SSW to dominate.
This really worked! It is possible to be on the first page of Google!
Following are 27 screenshots using search terms that are typical and relevant to SSW. In 18 of the results SSW is page 1 position 1, in some of them SSW gets 2 results and in no instances are the results outside the first 5. These are quite exceptional SEO results.
